Event Date and Time:
Sunday, 27 March 2011 - 10:00am - 4:00pm

Please come and join the members, relations and friends of the Clan MacRae Society of Australia and New Zealand for the Clan MacRae
Bathurst Highland Gathering & Country Fair and Dinner on Sunday 27th March, 2011, from 10am to around 4.30pm. Note - You don’t have to necessarily come
all day, you can come after lunch and stay for the informal dinner in the evening.

Find our Clan MacRae tent at the Scots School Highland Gathering in the middle of the ring and join us for a cup of tea or coffee and some Scottish fruitcake and shortbread. Watch the massed Pipe Bands from all over New South Wales go through their various manoeuvres and their magnificent display.  Watch the Scottish dancers. Be sure to look at our MacRae/Scottish display. See the massive castle (which one of the MacRae clan member’s constructs each year) in the middle of the parade ground and visit the many food and other great variety stalls. Scots School

The Scots School is located off Sydney Road at Kelso (Bathurst) and turn onto O’Connell Road for about a kilometre – there are plenty of signs then. It costs $5 per car to get in.

In the evening everyone is more than welcome to join us for dinner at the local Rose Garden Chinese Restaurant in Church Street, off William Street, at 6.30pm. Just order and pay for what you want.  People can just come to the meal in the evening if they want.  No dressing up for the dinner, quite informal.  Some rough numbers of those attending would be handy though.

Anyone interested, any questions or RSVP you can contact me (Alan McRae), PO Box 151, Bathurst, 2795 or phone 63315404 (home) or email amcrae@lisp.com.au

Report on MacRae Bathurst Highland Gathering

The morning in Bathurst was a typical Autumn morning damp mown grass a slight nip in the air and expectant excitement by all who were there preparing for the day.

Several members of the Clan MacRae were on hand early to set up the pop-up folding marquees and place our signs – “Clan MacRae Society of Australia and New Zealand” across the front.  With display cases of Scottish and MacRae memorabilia laid out and flags flying we were ready for the visitors.
